Nicholas founded Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2015. He is an actuary with exceptional business acumen and a global perspective. His clients and his organization benefit from his strong grasp of strategic, operational and risk management aspects of the business. Nicholas holds himself to very high standards and always deliver excellent performance.
Nicholas has a wide range of experience in traditional actuarial work, as well as in non-traditional areas such as offshore insurance, artificial intelligence, insurtech and analytics.
Nicholas is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (US). He is a past Council Member of the Society of Actuaries’ Entrepreneurial & Innovation Section. He is also a past Chairperson of the Professional Development Committee and Events Committee of the Actuarial Society of Malaysia. Nicholas graduated from Cass Business School with First Class Honours in BSc Actuarial Science.
Lim Shu Yi
Shu Yi joined Nicholas Actuarial Solutions as a partner in 2017. She has an outstanding business acumen and a desire to succeed.
Shu Yi has experience in performing actuarial pricing and reserving work. She also plays a key role in business development. She is keen to explore data analytics, insurtech and other non-traditional applications of actuarial knowledge.
Prior to this, she has experience working for large Japanese and European multinational insurance companies. She holds a BSc in Actuarial Studies and is studying towards attaining Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries.

Wei Wei is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA). She has experience working across many countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, India, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea.
Wei Wei has extensive experience in actuarial work including business projection, planning & forecasting, value reporting including Traditional EV, MCEV, VNB and MCVNB, Solvency II, US GAAP and PGAAP reporting, actuarial pricing, actuarial process review, reinsurance management and Prophet modelling and enhancements.
She was the lead team members responsible for ING and Public Bank’s Takaful successful license application to Bank Negara Malaysia. She is also an expert Prophet user with experience in managing and setting controls and checks in the Prophet System.
Raymond is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and has over 25 years of actuarial, financial and risk management experience in the insurance industry, previously held Appointed Actuary, Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer roles.
Raymond has significant expertise in developing risk and capital management framework, developing growth strategies, performing risk analysis, developing compensation models and performing client value analysis. Raymond is a pioneer of new product ideas and systems, and is recognised as a leading innovator in the market. He has coached and mentored many younger and successful actuaries.
Raymond is a Past President of the Actuarial Society of Malaysia and is the Society of Actuaries’ Ambassador to Malaysia. He is also a Certified Financial Planner and a Certified NLP Practitioner for Appraisal and Performance Management. Raymond also has specialized knowledge in Internet Marketing, Social Media Marketing and Blockchain Technology. Raymond is a Certified Blockchain Expert.

Man Yeng is the Marketing & Social Media Director of Nicholas Actuarial Solutions. She is responsible for business acquisition and client relationship management.
In her previous roles, Man Yeng managed product development, business development and actuarial teams in insurance companies. She has over 10 years of experience spanning across life insurance, general insurance and reinsurance.
Man Yeng graduated from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, United States with a BSBA in Actuarial Science. She has passed professional exams from the Society of Actuaries (US) and the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII).
Man Yeng has a keen interest in cyber risk and microinsurance.
Shum Man Yeng

Sophia is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries with 20 years of experience in life insurance, general insurance and family takaful businesses as well as and in shared services of insurance companies. She held senior positions such as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Appointed Actuary (AA), as well as heading strategic planning, product pricing and product management functions.
Over the last 15 years, she has been active on boards including the Main Board Committees, Risk Management Committees and Audit Committees of insurance companies. Her expertise and knowledge of strategy, actuarial, finance, product, investment, risk, compliance, control and governance have enabled her to provide useful information to Boards for decision making.
Currently, Sophia is the President of Actuarial Society of Malaysia. She was the first woman and first Malaysian to win the ASEAN Insurance Council’s Award for Young Managers in 2009. Sophia was in charge of the risk management portfolio of 16th Commonwealth Games (1998) held in Malaysia. She is also the author of two books - Regulatory Environment of Life Insurance Products, Sales and Operations and Life Insurance Companies Accounting and Financial Reporting.
Sophia Ch'ng FIA FASM
Wan Zamri is an advisor to Nicholas Actuarial Solutions. He is an accomplished and seasoned financial services professional with more than 30 years of experience in banking, insurance, and Takaful in Malaysia. He has extensive experience in strategic management, channel and sales management, and wealth management.
Wan Zamri has served as an independent director of two licensed financial institutions in Malaysia.
He is the former Chief Executive Officer of AIA Takaful International Berhad and former Chief Executive Officer of AmMetLife Takaful Berhad. His leadership management in the setting up of two Takaful operators in Malaysia over a period of 7 years is testament to his success. He has also served HSBC (in Malaysia, Hong Kong and across multiple countries in Asia Pacific) for more than two decades.
He graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA.
Wan Zamri Wan Zain
Yue Shen joined Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2018. He is keen learner, disciplined and is eager to work to achieve his goals.
Yue Shen is interested to apply actuarial mathematics and statistics to various fields including artificial intelligence and education. He is keen to actuarial mathematics beyond than the traditional applications.
Yue Shen has had prior experience interning for Great Eastern Malaysia. He graduated from Heriot Watt University Malaysia with First Class Honours in BSc in Actuarial Science. He is currently studying towards becoming a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
Goh Yue Shen
Jone Keat joined Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2020 as a developer, assisting in software development and technical actuarial work. He graduated from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) with First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Actuarial Science.
Jone Keat is an experienced analyst with practical skills in statistical modelling, data analysis and visualization, software development, and reporting. Previously, Jone Keat has worked as a Research Analyst in CEIC, he has experience building automation using R and Excel VBA to streamline business processes and ensure data quality.
Jone Keat is also highly motivated by AI/ML algorithms, and keen to learn new technologies to make positive contributions to the company. He has experience working on open-source projects involving time series modelling, COVID 19 data hub, etc.
Lim Jone Keat
Debbie started her career in Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2018 as an Actuarial Analyst. She has assisted in traditional actuarial work such as reserving, pricing and risk management work for insurers, reinsurers and takaful operators in Bahrain and Labuan. She has also done non-traditional actuarial work such as writing research reports to our clients. She also has experience in building and testing actuarial software application using programming tools.
Debbie has extensive communication skills due to her unique exposure to journalism and leadership experiences. She has delivered educational presentations to university students on the topics related to artificial intelligence and actuarial science.
Debbie graduated from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom with a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Mathematics, and she is currently studying towards attaining Fellowship of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
Debbie Ooi (Min Jyeh)
Yuan Xi started his career at Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2019 as an Actuarial Analyst in the risk management practice. He is involved in various actuarial work including but not limited to product pricing, RBC calculation, secondment to a general insurer to support year-end valuation and actuarial-related software application building and testing. He is keen to advance his skills in data analytics, artificial intelligence and other non-traditional actuarial work.
Prior to this, he has experience working in a leading life insurance company and an actuarial consulting firm in Malaysia. He was involved in life insurance operations, liability valuation of
general insurance business and business strategy development.
Yuan Xi graduated from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman with a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Science. He is currently progressing towards the Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries.
Loh Yuan Xi
Nadia came from Indonesia and joined Nicholas Actuarial Solutions to pursue her actuarial passion in Malaysia as an Actuarial Analyst who plays a significant role in assisting conventional pricing work. She is eager to explore various applications of actuarial work.
Nadia has various pricing experience which includes conventional and Syariah life insurance products, and repricing of medical products for our clients in Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. She also has valuation experience as being involved in the employee benefits practice.
Nadia studied in UCSI University in Malaysia and graduated with First Class Honours in BSc Actuarial Science. She is currently studying towards attaining Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries (SoA). She is a fast learner and always keen to learn new things. Her organization experiences have developed her strong communication, time management and problem-solving skills.
Jessie graduated from Heriot-Watt University Malaysia with a First Class Honours in BSc Actuarial Science. She started her career as an Actuarial Analyst in Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2019.
She is keen on exploring and applying her actuarial knowledge in traditional and non-traditional actuarial work.
Jessie is currently studying towards attaining Fellowship of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). She has exceptional analytical skills and a strong desire to achieve success.
Wai Chung joins Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2019 as an Actuarial Analyst, assisting financial reporting practice. His extensive extracurricular activity experiences have made him an enthusiastic, responsible and adventurous person.
He is keen on exploring and advancing his skills in data analytics, risk management, mathematics, and actuarial science application.
Wai Chung has gained valuable internship experience in the Corporate Risk Department of Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia. He graduated with First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Science from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. He is currently studying towards attaining Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries.
Chong Wai Chung
Billy joined Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2019 as an Actuarial Analyst in Financial Reporting Practice, with MSc in Actuarial Management from UCSI University.
His unique experience as a process engineer helped to shape him to be analytical, efficient, meticulous, composed under pressure, and able to solve actuarial problems from different perspectives.
Billy is always looking forward to learning and applying his actuarial aptitudes in traditional and non-traditional actuarial work, and always up for new challenges. Billy is currently studying towards attaining Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries.
Eng Kheng joined Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in October 2019, with the hope to contribute to the firm with his problem-solving skills. He has prior experience in life product pricing when he was doing an internship in Great Eastern Life Insurance and working as Pricing Executive in Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia. Apart from that, he has gained significant experience in building and testing application software using R. He is also keen on pursuing more exposures in various actuarial work such as valuation and modeling.
Eng Kheng is a diligent and self-motivated individual and is currently studying towards qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. He graduated from the University of Manchester with first-class honours in BSc Actuarial Science and Mathematics.

Wei Jet started as an intern at Nicholas Actuarial Solutions before joining as an actuarial analyst under the Financial Reporting practice in 2019. He graduated from Sunway University with a First-Class Honours in BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Studies.
Wei Jet is interested in exploring and exposing himself to all fields of actuarial work and applications, be it traditional or beyond. He wishes to leverage on his creativity and tenacity in meeting expectations to bring impact to the company. Wei Jet is currently studying towards attaining Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries.
Tang Wei Jet
Patrick Cheah joins Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2020 as a Business Development Consultant. Patrick is an experienced actuary with more than 20 years of working experience in various senior management roles. He has extensive experience in actuarial and finance matters, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions as well as bancassurance distribution. Patrick is well-known for his deal-making abilities.
Patrick was formerly an Appointed Actuary/CFO and CMO of AmLife Insurance Berhad (now AmMetLife Berhad), Head of Bancassurance for RHB Bank and COO of RHB Insurance.
His last job was CFO of Avicennia Capital, the financial holding company of SunLife Malaysia and a fully owned subsidiary of Khazanah National, Malaysian sovereign wealth fund.
Patrick is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Malaysia and was past president of the Actuarial Society of Malaysia.

Wong joined Nicholas Actuarial Solutions as a Director in 2020. He brings significant expertise, experience and dynamism to the team.
Wong has over 30 years of experience in the general insurance industry. In his past capacity as a CEO and Managing Director of insurance companies, Wong has led major transformation initiatives and turnaround programs in the companies he helmed. He also took an active role in the Malaysian general insurance industry by serving the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) in 2009 as a Deputy Chairman and was elected as Chairman in 2012.
Wong is also a Principal Director in Labuan Insurance Management Services Limited and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner. He is also admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
Wong Kim Teck

Gideon graduated from Sunway University with first-class honors in BSc (Hons) Actuarial Studies and participated in the Actuarial Practice Course before graduation, allowing him to further broaden his practical knowledge in the actuarial field.
He recently started his career at Nicholas Actuarial Solutions. Before this, he interned at AIA Malaysia where he had the opportunity to expand his programming language pool. Besides, he is currently studying towards attaining Fellowship of Institute and Faculties of Actuaries (IFoA).
Woon Kun Khim FIA
Kun Khim is a qualified actuary with more than 10 years' experience, primarily in actuarial valuation, actuarial modeling, and financial risk management.
In his previous role, he was the assistant lead for the IFRS17 implementation project for a large multinational insurance company. He was involved in leading the work from establishing going-in positions for the companies, coordinating the position with the regional and corporate office as well as leading the relevant technical discussions and assessments with the project team. He also led the actuarial modeling function, covering the consolidation of the new product models, ad-hoc enhancements, and independent model reviews with the regional review team.
Kun Khim has worked on various evaluation of company initiatives in assessing the viability of potential new strategic partnerships. He also had experience in shareholders reporting, encompassing value of new business, strategic and business planning.
Lye Yin is an Assistant Director of Finance at Nicholas Actuarial Solutions, working with the Financial Reporting Practice. Prior to this, Lye Yin had experience working in an audit firm. She led a team to complete audit assignments.
Lye Yin's experience makes her capable of preparing consolidated financial statements and reports which fully comply with the relevant accounting standards. She is always keen to learn new things and further develop her knowledge and potential.
Lye Yin is an Affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). She graduated from the Oxford Brookes University with a BSc in Applied Accounting.

Ming Wei started her career as an Actuarial Analyst in Nicholas Actuarial Solutions in 2020. She is committed to applying her actuarial knowledge to advance and develop innovative solutions in the actuarial field.
Ming Wei is deeply passionate about mathematics and problems solving. She is a self-motivated achiever and is always keen to learn and explore the broad diversity of actuarial work.
Ming Wei graduated from Heriot-Watt University Malaysia with a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Science. She is currently studying towards attaining the Fellowship of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
Kok Ming Wei
Kin Hoe is a qualified actuary who graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He has experience working in direct insurance companies in Malaysia and Singapore as well as consultancy in Malaysia.
In his previous role of leading a risk management department, he engaged with various functions of the company to improve the Enterprise Risk Management of the organisation. He worked on the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and communicated key risks and monitoring of the risks to the Board Risk Management and Board Audit and Compliance.
Prior to that, he has done extensive work in valuation which includes reserving, Prophet modelling, EV and VNB reporting, stress testing, asset liability management and capital management. He has also worked closely with internal and external auditors to enhance the reserving and modelling processes.
